Panayides (2020) portrays that as new technology is being invented, new discoveries in the medical field are made. Consequently, there is a need for healthcare providers to advance in their education to ensure that they are better equipped to deal with new ways of offering medical care. As I am studying for a graduate degree, I am required to join an informatics organization, and the organization I opted for is the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA). Returning to school for a graduate degree is good for making me more competitive in the medical field. It will enable me to make better health care decisions and improve how I provide care to patients. Consequently, my main drive for returning to school for a graduate degree is to ensure that as I gain more skills and competencies that will help me offer better health care services to more patients.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people felt hopeless because of the number of people that died in a short time. Although some were effective and some were hard to follow, the measures put in place, especially when individuals were advised to maintain social distance. Consequently, this has pushed me to want to advance my education so that in case there is another global pandemic that ever occurs, as a healthcare provider, I will be better prepared to provide the needed care to people. My professional experience as a healthcare provider has taught me that there are a lot of changes in technology that are taking place. Medical services have advanced, so if I am to serve the future generation competently, I must advance my level of education.
