There are three main energy pathways in the body. The ATP- PC energy pathway is a pathway that functions without oxygen. It lasts up to a maximum of twelve seconds. In the initial stages of the ATP- PC, stored ATP energy is used. As time progresses, the PC in the pathways prevents further energy consumption until there is a shift to a different pathway. Short duration exercises such as weight lighting and short put may make use of the ATP-PC pathway. Glycolytic pathway comes into effect after ATP has been used. Carbohydrates consumed provide oxygen that is stored in the liver and muscles as glucose after the process of glycolysis. The pathway contains energy created to last for about twelve seconds.
