The globalization and social determinants of health, identifies social stratification, differential exposure, differential susceptibility, differential consequences as the main determinants of disease. Social conditions may play have played a role in the emergence of Ebola with high population growth, poverty, poor health structure and social conditions that exacerbate human-to human transmission. The latest Ebola outbreak affects West African countries especially in urban centers where there was high population density (Alexander et al., 2015). One of the challenges to containing the breaks is lack of high-quality health care. Since the disease mainly ravaged the poor areas the inability to access medical care in time, and cultural beliefs influenced the transmission.
Differential exposure can also explain the spread of Ebola, given that the population susceptible to the viral infection was most likely to be infected when exposed. As the number of people who can transmit the disease grew, it was likely that there were differential exposure rates. People in direct contact with those mostly been affected being family members and healthcare workers were most susceptible because direct exposure.
