Plagiarism is the unethical behavior where an author takes another researcher’s work including ideas, conversations, and writings, and conveys them to the audience as theirs (Helgesson & Eriksson, 2015). Plagiarism comes in various dimensions. The most frequent example is where researchers paraphrase content and fail to cite the source or provide the authentic originator of the idea of some credit. Another form of plagiarism is buying assignments and essays and presenting them to the administrators in the quest to attain a baccalaureate degree. Finally, there is the consolidation of text from multiple sources and turning the work to the audience claiming full ownership of the piece.
As a student, this behavior undermines the integrity associated with the education process and more importantly, the nursing profession.
