The three health promotion levels are crucial in preventing infections and providing a ground for health care practitioners to instill positive change in patients. These levels are important, in equal measure, as they enable nurses to participate in all steps of health advancement.
Primary health promotion includes prevention and specific protection. Primary prevention’s major focus is to avoid spreading the disease and apply interventions that maintain a healthy life. It aims to mitigate the vulnerability of an individual or population to dysfunction or disease. At this level, nurses encourage preventative and relevant interventions that enhance patient health. Primary caregivers coordinate a patient’s care among specialists and other levels. Primary caregivers help decrease hospitalization cases, offer patients enhanced access to healthcare services, improve health outcomes, and decrease emergency department visits and hospitalization.
