Discussion: A Health Promotion Model
Health promotion refers to the process of empowering individuals to make healthy lifestyle selections and encouraging them to convert to being their self-managers. Several health promotion models are used to initiate behavioral changes in individuals. They include the Pender Promotion Model (Gonzalo, 2019). The model focuses on a healthier lifestyle than treating a disease. The model believes that people’s health is not only defined by the absence of diseases in their bodies but by the way individuals interact with the environment in promoting health. The model primarily emphasizes three areas: behavioral outcomes, personal features, experiences, and behavior-specific effects and cognition. Pender’s model plays a significant role in teaching behavioral changes (Khodaveisi, Omidi, Farokhi & Soltanian, 2017). For instance, it motivates health workers to give patients positive resources to help them achieve specific changes. However, environmental features and self-initiated people's change tend to be the most vital characteristics leading to successful behavioral change.
