Development Markers for A 9-Month Old Infant
Movement. At nine months, it is common that a child will be trying to crawl or creep holding objects to support themselves. An infant is also able to sit without any form of support. A child at this age uses both hands to explore and gesture (Myers, et al. 2018) The hands can also be used while playing with toys. An infant this age can turn their head to track images. The ability of a child to make movements can be used to track their development.
Cognitive development. A child at 9-months starts to develop some senses like where they can recognize their name when it’s called out. They also seem to know some faces which are familiar to them (Jones, et al. 2017). At this stage a child is in their early stages of sense development hence act in ways that suggest they understand what’s around them.
Physical growth. Though physical changes may be little, a child at nine months should have added about 10 inches in their height. The physical changes can be used as development markers.
