The concept of continuous quality improvement(CQI) has increasingly been embraced gradually over the past few years due to the realization of the need to make healthcare not only safe, but also high quality. The ultimate impact of CQI is that patients are more satisfied and even the recovery rates is higher than before. CQI as a result, plays a crucial role in the healthcare setting by ensuring there are minimal medical errors due to improved health monitoring. Dosage administration are hence keenly monitored, and the sociocultural aspects that can help in the recovery process also observed. CQI, due to the various activities it encompasses, is therefore a strict responsibility of the nurses.
In my past position, I would ensure that I apply the latest, and clinically proven methods so as to deliver the most accurate and effective patient care. This is a tenet of CQI. In the nursing field, there are quite some challenges. The most pertinent of them include understaffing, workplace hazards, as well as insufficient training and facilities (Black, 2019). CQI is quite important because it provides the nurses with the much needed continuous training to ensure that they are always abreast with the latest developments and changes in the field. Quality can sometimes be quite subjective, as it depends on the personal perception of the same by the people involved (Conner, 2014). The outcomes however, are universal. In this case, the outcome is the enhancement of patient care.
Nurses can now easily and quickly identify the issues that normally arise in their respective stations, and come up with the most appropriate solutions for them early enough.
