Implementing public health information technology projects can be impeded by several issues. One such issue is the lack of adequate capital. Lack of capital can render the entire project null and void. Moreover, it can crush the dream of enhancing the IT infrastructure of the public health system.
Another problem could entail the lack of adequate IT infrastructure. While the implementation process could be successful, there could be a challenge in getting or providing sufficient broadband infrastructure. This issue would imply that the public healthcare system would be slow and greatly ineffective. The healthcare professionals would spend a lot of time doing normal things like retrieving a patient’s file. Such an issue could end up impeding not only the entire IT project but also patient safety. Any project implementation should be an upgrade to the current system. Therefore, having slow internet could end up being a barrier to quality service and care.
