Cannabis Transportation Policies in Louisiana

Essay Instructions:

PART 1
For your contribution to the wiki, choose a state (Louisiana) where you are considering operating your business. Research the existing transportation policies as they relate to legal cannabis in your state.
Remember that even though you are only contributing to the section of the wiki that pertains to your state, the overall wiki is a tool that is accessible to everyone in the course. You should attempt to prioritize essential information and not clutter the page with unnecessary supporting information. If the supporting information was included directly in the wiki, there would be too much clutter and people who are reading it to get essential information may be overwhelmed and miss something important.
Statements of fact in your contributions to the wiki should cite reputable sources.
In some cases, there may be multiple students who are contributing to the same section of the wiki. It is unlikely that all of the information pertaining to interstate and international commerce has been covered by other students so you should look for gaps that you can fill. Consider adding specific examples or historical information that helped shape the current laws and regulations.

Patients who use medical marijuana can keep up to 70.8 grams. Louisiana has existing marijuana transportation policies.

HB 819, which significantly expanded the medical marijuana policy and gave any certified doctor in compliance with the state the ability to recommend marijuana for any disease they considered severely impairing their patient, was enacted into law in 2020. The restriction on raw and smokable marijuana items was repealed by the passage of HB 391 in 2021 and will take effect on January 1, 2022 (Alovisetti & Furman, 2021). It is permitted to have up to 70.8 grams of cannabis flower for medical purposes. In Louisiana, using marijuana for medical purposes will be permitted, effective in 2022.
Regarding transportation regulations, Louisiana law authorizes licensed medical marijuana stores to deliver medicinal marijuana goods to clients or their facilities. The store personnel who have done the requisite criminal record checks and have the appropriate licenses must be the ones transporting. The transportation has to conform to every relevant regulation and law, especially appropriate security precautions and compl...
