What is the Best type of Random Sampling?
In the field of research, there are numerous types of sampling methods that are being used for data collection and analysis. Some examples of sampling methods include “Sample Random sampling, Stratified sampling, Cluster sampling, multistage sampling, and systematic random sampling” (StatTrek.com, 2016). However, no one can say that there’s a single type of sampling method that would be the best for every need. In the field of nursing, however, I believe that the Stratified Random sampling is the best one since it would give better precision as to which are the target groups while still maintaining a fair sense of ‘randomness’. This idea comes from the fact that Simple random sampling, despite its generality and wide inclusive in terms of collecting a sample size, it also lacks preciseness due to that very fact. The other one – Cluster random sampling – would is also a good type of sampling method but it could lead to too much specificity since it already divides the whole population into groups or clusters before conducting the sampling method. Thus, for me, I believe that it would be best to use the stratified sampling method since it strikes a balance between “randomness” and “specificity” which makes it very valuable in the field of nursing.
