The quality improvement initiative from the workplace is in relation to the Maternal Care Act. According to Congress, the morbidity and mortality rate in the United States is higher than in all other first-world countries. The quality gap between the United States and other developed countries stems from observing that the maternal mortality of African-American women in need of maternity care services is far higher than that of white women. For instance, the maternal mortality is 42.8 deaths and 13 deaths per 100,000 live births for African-Americans and White women, respectively (U.S. Congress, 2021). The difference infers that there is a need to improve maternal health care access among African-American women. Therefore, the institution emulated the North Carolina Pregnancy Medical Home program, which assigns health care providers home-based roles to black women in need of maternal healthcare.
