The environment under which a person is brought up and the psychological factors as well as hereditary patterns that determine relationships in a family affect the people’s health. The environmental factors such as money, housing, family, friends, and bills are likely to affect a person psychologically and lead to depression and poor health. Also, genogram contains relationships within a family and the history of every individual. Therefore, the work focuses on determining the role structure and functional pattern within a family and their relationship and communication patterns as well as the influences on their health promotion.
Family Description
The work is based on John’s family. The family is made up of nine individuals, including the parents and children. The parents are old aged people who are in their late sixties while their first born is forty two years old and the youngest sibling is twenty one. Most of the children are married except for the last two siblings who are still in college. The family has four female and three male siblings and all of them have at least attended college.
Social Cultural Data
All the family members are Christians. However, most of the children and the father have anxiety problems. Also, the family is deeply rooted in the traditions and they speak two languages one of which is their local one and the other is the national language. All the members of the family are well educated except the mother who did not finish high school level. The father is a retired electrical engineer and the other siblings who have completed their education are working making the family to be grouped under middle class people in the society. Moreover, the mother and some of the siblings are active members within the church.
