In the movie where my heart is, Novalee goes through tough experiences as a young teenager. She was pregnant and abandoned by her boyfriend Willy Jack with no family to rely on she decides to raise her daughter and start a fresh life through the assistance of kind people around her (Williams, 2000). Adult learning theory motivates her to learn because Novalee’s life has drastically changed due to circumstances making her become an independent person and also changing her views about life in general. After being abandoned, Novalee begins to realize that she has the potential and can still make it in life despite the past experiences (Williams, 2000).
Her inherent capabilities motivate her to forge ahead. According to agrology theory, a process includes a range of lifelong learning. Her direct learning experience motivates her and gives her the sense of self-satisfaction. Having undergone through difficulties Novallee can learn from her past to build her future. Novalee can become an active participant and own up to her responsibilities despite lacking formal education; she is determined to make it through life (Ozuah, 2016).
Human learning theory is appropriate and applicable to Novalee case; human learning theory is more of personal growth. According to human learning theory, human beings are known to be able to nurture themselves and adapt to the environment. Human learning theory is based on the notion that human has the natural tendency to evolve learned and grows to develop to their fullest potential (Olson, 2015). About Novalee in the movie, she takes pictures that enable her to see things in a way that nobody else has done.
Despite some of the endurances, there is the instinctive inner core that pushes humans towards reaching their fullest potential. Having been abandoned by her befriend with no one to turn to and with very little money for her upkeep...
