In this day and age of technological advancement, it is undeniable that most of the public depends on its simplicity and comfort. In today's teens, technological advancements have been their daily friend, and they are mainly reliant on them. When the pandemic began, they could not survive without their cellphones, which they used to check social media, play games, and use for online learning. However, several adolescent communities have lost awareness over their use of these devices and have become dependent, causing disturbance of their everyday activities. Internet addiction is one indication of a current problem affecting teens today. These people depend on the internet so much that they offset their emotions by using it excessively. Today, many youths with the highest rates of internet addiction are gamers who are motivated primarily by their peers who switch to games to feel accepted. Sadly, there have been reports of people dying due to excessive internet use, primarily gaming, in which they forget to eat and take good care of themselves. They got so enamored by it that even their families were unable to deter them from engaging in inappropriate conduct. As a result of their behavior, they felt pleased with winning and achieving a sense of identity by playing in every online game or activity. Many teenagers made new friends online, which helped them happy and gave them a feeling of approval, particularly socially awkward and socially shy teenagers (Kuss, 2018).
It is critical to make an early intervention of the addiction process in a teenage patient experiencing this problem. While a formal category for cyber addiction is still to be discovered, KW Beards' medical assessment is widely recognized.
