Acid-base physiology is a crucial phenomenon that enhances extracellular pH and fluid balance regulation. Specific shifts in acid-base stability affect the extracellular pH and the fluid balance. Therefore, there is a need for regulation to reduce adverse effects such as denaturing the cells. Any noticeable change in acid-base balance stimulates the respiratory system to regulate the pH depending on ventilation adjustment. For instance, increased blood pH reduces the respiratory activities to retain Carbon IV oxide and reduce alkalinity (DiBartola, 2011). However, whenever the blood pH is low, the rate of respiratory activities increases to eradicate CO2 in the blood system to increase the pH.
