Being new in the teaching profession is challenging without active support from colleagues, school management, and the existing unions for teachers. Approximately eight to fifty percent of teachers leave and abandon the profession within the first five years (Shanks et al., 2020). New teachers are faced with challenges such as a high workload, lack of moral support, inability to balance correctly between work and life responsibilities, and lack of recognition and appreciation at small achievements (Dias-Lacy & Guirguis, 2017). Few teachers report having a lack of job security. There are several ways new teachers can get the guidance and support necessary for them to be comfortable and happy with the profession.
First, a new teacher will need a planned orientation. Most new teachers usually have gone through professional placements to gain experience during their studies in their college or university.
