Use of Zeroes
Zero grades are contentious. Failure to complete assignments usually results in a zero. It can be damaging and ineffective. Zeros impair qualities and motivation, according to the lecture and publications. A zero on an assignment I missed for real reasons demoralized and disappointed me. I believed there was no redemption or improvement. I understand the zero-assignment dilemma as a teacher. Students must be held accountable for effort and punctuality. A student with home internet or family obligations may be able to meet deadlines. After learning this, I would use zeroes more freely to suit each pupil. Instead of giving them a zero, I chat with them about their problems and provide them with catch-ups or other chances to prove their understanding. This strategy encourages equity and progress so students can learn from their mistakes and improve.
