Tatiana Gordon, a professor at the Hofstra University, published the text, ‘Using role‐play to foster transformational and social action multiculturalism in the ESL classroom’. The article focuses on discussing role-play in the class of English as the Second Language (ESL) and the advantages it gives while in use. The writer elaborates how the implementation of cultural theories and beliefs (Multiculturalism) is important in teaching English but challenging to adapt in teaching students from different native languages. Multicultural curricula and its challenges are evident with tangible evidences from other researched works. The text disregards use of additive curricula and advices on Transformational and Social Action Multiculturalism that encourages the need for awareness of diversity and the different cultures as a form of appreciation to cultures. Social action in consideration to ethics, for instance, encourages actions like ending racial discrimination among the different cultures. This happens by showing significant work done by people from different races like in an employment plant and practicing the concepts to improve the society and the world. In the article, Kamehameha Elementary Education Program (KEEP) has had a major contribution to action research (Gordon, 2012). It has helped the teachers work in a team to defeat the barrier to change to using the multiculturalism approach.
