Lesson Plans

A Lesson Plan guides the teacher on what and how he/she will teach and how he/she will measure the learning progress. (Stauffer, 2019)

Improves the effectiveness of the teacher in the class by adhering to the outline.

Classroom and Student Factors /Grouping

Refers to the various factors that the teachers consider while putting learners into groups. (RSC, n.d.)

Enables learners to cover more ground in the classwork and therefore increases productivity.

National/ State Learning Standards

National/ State Learning Standards refer to the minimum level of knowledge and skills that the students need to attain before they graduate at a given level of studies. (RSC, n.d.)

Ensures consistency in the education system so that teachers in different learning institutions of the same level teach similar things. It is helpful for Quality control.

Learning Objectives

They are the short-term goals that indicate the knowledge and skills that teachers expect the learners to have after a certain teaching period. (Stauffer, 2019)

They are helpful for Quality Control to gauge whether a particular topic has been covered exhaustively.

Alignment

Alignment is a measure of how the different education elements enable the learners to attain their targets.

Alignment ensures that education systems meet learning goals and attain the requirements stated in the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act.

Academic Language

Formal rules for communication that learners and teachers use. ( Zucker et al., 2019)

Eases communication among teachers and learners and provides consistency in education.

The introductory part prepares the students for the Lesson (Beth, 2019)

Captures the attention of the learners and sparks their prior knowledge.

Prior Knowledge

The information the learner already has on a subject before the teacher teaches it. (Joseph, 2018)

Enables the teacher to know where and how to start the teaching.

Multiple Means of Representation

The various techniques that a teacher uses to ensure the learners understand the topic. (Stauffer, 2019)

Enables the learners to understand the subject easily as one technique on its own cannot be optimal.

Multiple Means of Engagement

Refer to how the lessons they get to impact their lives outside the classroom. (Amanda n.d.)

Enables the learners to get motivated towards learning and develop an interest in the topic.

Multiple Means of Expression

The various activities a teacher performs to demonstrate the content of the topic. (Stauffer, 2019)

Ensures that all learners understand the topic because demonstrating reinforce what the teacher has said.

Instructional Methods

The various methods a teacher uses to create an environment for learning and indicate what the class will be involved in during the Lesson. (Persaud, 2018)
