Words with different pronunciation and stress could be difficult to pronounce depending on the student CITATION Beg18 \l 1033 (Begintoread.com, 2018). Upon conducting the exercise, the student found it difficult to pronounce words where letters change its sound when combined with other letters. Some examples of these from the given list are ‘other’, ‘then’, and ‘of’. Specifically, this is because of the fact that the first two words are pronounced with /dh/, despite having the consonant ‘t’. As for the last word, ‘of’ was pronounced with a /v/ rather than an ‘f’. As according to the student himself, the variety of rules and exceptions for every rule, makes it very difficult to pronounce some of the words.
