Most people tend to assume that Leadership, Administration, and Management are equivalent functions cut from the same cloth. The truth is that there exists a distinct separation between the three regarding the primary functions they carry out. Leadership is more hinged towards planning and shaping the vision of a firm, management on the other hand primarily concentrates on value creation and execution. An administration ensures there is a smooth process that allows handling of tasks in an orderly manner. They all work together in a fluid mechanism to ensure the success of a firm. It is worth noting that leadership plays an integral part of effective management (Gopee & Galloway, 2014). It creates a favorable environment for all employs to develop and excel. A leader’s job is to lead by example and to motivate while a manager plan, organize and coordinate. An administrator carries out the crucial task of setting up objectives and important policies of a firm or organization (Pani, 2014).
There are four basic functions involved in management. They include Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Controlling. The features cut across all businesses. An effective manager knows how vital the four functions are for the success of a business or an organization. Below is a case study on how the four-core management functions to aid in the smooth running of a nurse’s practice in a school setting. First, planning is carried out to decide what is needed. It helps to determine what action to take in the near future. In nursing practice, planning will identify the real need regarding health care system in school. The need answers questions on who stands to benefit from the practice, who is the best person to run the nursing practice and can the school support the nursing practice (Gopee & Galloway, 2014). When one has, a clear picture of what needs to be in place then executing becomes an easy task. Organizing comes next after setting up a plan. It brings together the physical, human, and financial resources to achieve the nurse practice objective. For the nursing practice, one has to organize themselves well so as to ensure the management and coordination of the assigned health service meet the requirements established by the schools policy, and also the national regulations and statues. The organization function will also ensure that everything required is in place and give a green light for the official launching of the school nursing practice....
