Summary of Author’s Position:
Charles L. Glenn argues that the Supreme Court has reconfigured American Education through its decision in Zelman versus Simmon-Harris, and provided a prompt antidote to the secularism among students. He argues that selecting a school for the children is the fundamental and immediate rights of their parents (Glenn, 2002). Their decision is based on how they want their child to build an outlook of the world. Consequently, Glenn continues with the argument that the voucher system for public schools will motivate people to strife. On the other hand, he believes that the reversal of court decision can create multiple choices for public schooling, which can improve the cultural diversity in the U.S.
