ECS 110 Writing Assignemnt Paper: Chapter 3 Forum

DiAngelo and Sensoy encourage students and others engaging with social justice content to pay attention their own reactions and to spend time trying to understand ideas that challenge their own beliefs.
In this Chapter's forum, please identify a specific idea or comment in one of the textbook readings that challenged you. It could be something that you disagree with or something that you hadn't considered before. Respond to that idea or comment following these four steps from Daniel Dennet (http://www(dot)filmsforaction(dot)org/articles/how-to-criticize-with-kindness-philosopher-daniel-dennett-on-the-four-steps-to-arguing-intelligently/):
You should attempt to re-express your target’s position so clearly, vividly, and fairly that your target says, “Thanks, I wish I’d thought of putting it that way".
You should list any points of agreement (especially if they are not matters of general or widespread agreement).
You should mention anything you have learned from your target.
Only then are you permitted to say so much as a word of rebuttal or criticism.
Note: You are not required to disagree with the idea. You may choose to use the first three steps as a way to try and deepen your understanding of the idea.
Try to choose a fairly succinct idea and keep your response to 200 words or less. Identify the page number of the original idea.
You may also choose to ask questions of your classmates to help you understand.
