My class consists of learners who struggle with math and others who are more proficient. Some of them struggle with adding double-digit numbers. After teaching addition, I noticed that most of them had no problem with single-digit numbers. However, when we progressed to double-digit numbers, some students could not get it correctly. As a result, it was critical to cater to the needs of those who may struggle with double-digit numbers and those who may need to be stretched.
To address the needs of both learners, I would employ a differentiated task approach. The method entails tailoring instruction to meet the individual needs of the learners (Gentry, Sallie & Sanders, 2013). Here students have the flexibility and choice on how to learn. Personalizing the learning process is critical in meeting the individual needs of the students.
