In conflict management, it is essential to let the aides decide if they are ready to address any issues between each other in an open communication. They should determine the exact nature of the conflict and establish awareness of the outcome they are aiming at. They should also understand each other’s position and establish a vantage point of how the problem might have developed and how best to approach the issues at hand. The Model of Intensity of Conflict is represented in five levels. The first level is differences, and it describes individuals that have different perspectives on an issue. The next level is misunderstandings and it describes parties in conflict that understand the situation in a wrong way and differently. Disagreement is the third level and it involves parties that have different viewpoints. The fourth level is discord and it happens when there is tension between individuals in conflict. Polarization is the final level which describes individuals in conflict as having no hope for resolution. The Intensity of conflict model can be used by the aides to check the level they are at. If they are ready to resolve the conflict that they have, then preparations for resolution is the next step (Overtone& Lowry, 2013).
