Watching cartoons is an important activity in kids' early lives. It dramatically impacts multiple aspects, including their behavioral and cognitive development. The activity perplexes me in the way children behave and the kind of people they grow into. Mothers and caregivers are the main actors in instilling the behavior in kids. The primary aim of introducing children to cartoon watching is to enable them to distinguish and filter helpful content. This action is viral among children due to their distinct expressions and style. Cartoons can promote progress in early childhood disease treatment. The overall cartoons' quality varies significantly, and a few are linked to violence, misguided behaviors, and obscene acts.
Therefore, some psychologists advise parents to keep their children away from cartoons. With the growing technology, children are easily exposed to related shows due to the increased access to hand-held gadgets and television sets at home (Meng et al., 2020). Some prefer spending the whole day watching cartoons rather than playing with their peers. Routine watching leaves them with little time to associate with their friends (Zhang et al., 2021). During my childhood, failure to watch cartoons during holidays would bother me greatly, rendering me stressed. Thus, the behavior is not a modern aspect but a lifestyle that has been common over the years. However, not all children have access to cartoons. Some lack relevant technological gadgets that can allow them to watch.
Evidence from the research reveals multiple factors regarding cartoon watching and children. In most cases, kids begin watching cartoons at six months of age. By the time they reach two years, they become enthusiastic viewers. Those who watch violent acts are likely to indicate violent behavior as they grow.
