Value on sex and sexuality. Creative Writing Assignment

Essay Instructions:

Summary:
Based on our class discussions about influences on sexuality, you will write a brief response paper about things that have influenced your values around sex. Think about how family, friends, religion or faith, media, school, images, personal experiences, etc…may have influenced your values towards sex, sexuality and your sexual identity (gender identity, sexual orientation & sex/gender role).
What to write: Write a definition of sex and sexuality, and sexual identity, in the context of this assignment. Make the definition clear so that someone outside the class can understand it. Give supporting examples of your definitions.
Describe the influences that have shaped your values and how that has impacted your sense of your sexual identity.
This paper is a reflection paper and should present your values and beliefs; I am interested in having you practice articulating your ideas and opinions. You do not need to turn to outside sources, but if you do, correctly cite them.
Be sure to include a title, your name and your student ID on your paper. You will submit your paper into Turnitin.com directly through this link.
Grading criteria: Must address the prompt, should state what your values are, should give specific examples of influences, should detail how factors mentioned influenced these values, must be a coherent essay, good flow and easy for reader to follow, linear and/or organized thought, good paragraph focus, must be proper length, grammar and spelling should be largely correct.
Note: This class will have developmental and second language writers, so there may be grammatical and spelling errors present. But I am interested in content; good content can come through unless there are dramatic errors at the sentence level (i.e., punctuation, word choice, grammar, spelling, etc…) which interfere with expression of ideas and thoughts.
Length: Word count should be between 750 - 1,300 words total.

Value on sex and sexuality
I grew up in a rigorous environment where we strictly followed set moral values. We were rarely let out of the house to experience things on our own, with a life centered on good grades and career. Sexual education was a taboo and so was curious about the same. My first encounter with the term 'Sex' was with my fellow peers, but it was talked about casually and in a secretive manner. If you asked me about sexual experiences between people of the same gender, then I would have laughed it off as merely impossible. The films then were decent, and our parents would switch the television off at any site of nudity. I am now a heterosexual grownup, wondering if I would have made different or better choices in life if I was taught more on sex, sexuality, and sexual identity. I wish my parents, religious leader, and teachers enlighten me more on the subject because it turns out to be very broad and not literal as I thought.
Sex is a broad term used to define the biological differences between male and female living things. Mostly this is attributed to their distinct reproductive system with both the inside and outside exuding unique characteristics. There are also physical characteristics that distinguish males and females, for example, breasts in females and facial hair in male humans. Sexuality, on the other hand, is simply the way you express yourself sexually. Sexuality is self-awareness of who you want to have a sexual experience with or who you are sexually appealing. The difference is that sexuality is the expression, your knowledge of which you are, and your attitude. Finally, sexual identity is what you think you are.it is within you, and it is you to decide whether to share it with others or not. Sexual identity is who you think you can have a sexual experience. The largest sexually identity group is heterosexuals, attracted to the opposite sex. Others belong in the LGBT community, same-sex attraction, bisexuals attracted to both genders, and many others.
The discussion on influences on sexuality brings into sharp focus the aspect of sexual values. Everything under the sun starts with values that are put in place to guide us through tough decisions. Sexual values are fundamental, but this topic is very uncomfortable and is least discussed even among people who are dating married. As I said earlier, traditional family values influenced my sexuality while growing up. The family setting could not allow discussions on sexuality, and this led to the suppression of the same. As we all know, the experiences we have in our families affect our future relationships; for example, a child who grows up in a violent environment is likely to do the same in future relationships.
On the other hand, women in abusive relationships tend to stay because their mothers stayed despite the violence. Traditional families believed in relations between men and women; this led to marriage and later procreation. Sexuality had no place leading to hostility and alienation of the people who were sexually different. A good example is the LGBT who marry to make their family’s happy.my sexual values then were one-sided because the ...
