Marketing strategies are very important in the growth and development of companies. It is through marketing that businesses are able to expand their corporate image and increase the volume of their sales (Adcock, 2000). Whether it is local or multinational companies, there is need to put in place viable marketing strategies to increase the companies’ visibility in the market (Adcock, 2000). Multinational companies are finding it difficult to succeed in the global market place if they lack the right marketing strategies.
Nike is one of the multinational companies that are keen to put in place the most feasible marketing formulas to attract a global customer base. The company specializes in sports equipment, footwear, athletic shoes, and apparel (Ros, 2011). It is involved in various marketing strategies to make sure that it is ahead of its competitors. One of the marketing strategies that Nike is using to reach out to its customers and potential customers is the pull marketing strategy. The pull strategy implies that a company uses promotional tools to bring customers to them (Jain, 2000). It endeavors to pull customers to the products and services offered by a company. Nike has successfully used the pull strategy to build loyalty to its brand, thus making it possible to attract an international customer base (Ros, 2011). Through its marketing strategy, Nike is benefitting greatly in the global marketplace by opening markets in different parts of the world.
The Use of Company Website
Nike’s website acts as a viable way of reaching out to its customers and potential customers. The availability of internet connectivity has made it possible for many people around the world to gain access to the company’s website, which enhances the visibility of its products and services (Ros, 2011). This is a pull marketing technique because customers in the global marketplace are able to learn more about the company. Through the pull technique, the company is able to call upon visitors to its website to sign up for emails, which allow the visitors to receive the latest information on the products on offer (Ros, 2011). Nike is able to market its products through its website, therefore making it possible for customers from around the globe to make purchases. This is a very effective way of marketing since websites are accessible online to a wide range of customers. The Use of Mobile Apps
In the same vein, Nike is also widely involved in another pull technique that seeks to capture customers through mobile apps.
