Self-concept refers to the individual perception of individual behavior and character. Further, self-concept is the pacesetter of one’s communication skills and personality. Personally, self-concept impacted my communication skills, especially in my personal life some time ago. Before, I had this idea that I am a shy person and could not talk to anyone unless they approached me first. I then fell in love, but my self-concept that I was a shy person prevented me from coming the person I had developed feelings with. Consequently, I ended up shifting schools before opening up and communicating my feelings for the person. After the incident, I became angry at myself because of the experience and the fact that I could not reach my goals.
