Social Media Evolution
Social media emerged in the mid-nineteenth century, on May 1844, with a set of automated dashes and dots tapped out using hands on a machine. In hardly a generation, social media has grown from straight electronic data exchange, a retail concept, to a critical 21st-century marketing medium. The first-ever message from Baltimore to Washington indicated that Samuel Morse acknowledged his scientific achievement’s historical implications. The internet’s development promoted online communication services in the late twentieth century. Prodigy, America Online, and CompuServe are some services that familiarized users with email-based digital communication, online chatting, and board messaging (Vaughan-Nichols, 2015). For example, Facebook has about 2.4 billion followers and is a powerful social media platform on the planet. Other platforms, such as WhatsApp and YouTube, have more than one billion followers on their social sites (Méndez-Diaz et al., 2022). Despite these large numbers across social media platforms, people can embrace specific changes in social media. The most crucial social media change that humanity can consider is social media regulation at the national or international level and limiting the timespan spent on social media at the personal level.
