Appropriate communication medium guarantees enriched interactions among people. It also ensures instructions are followed to the letter. However, since the 21st-century world is highly diversified coupled with different cultural backgrounds, the communication process has been challenged. In particular, the production of message, circulation, and its comprehension is distinct among people. Hall (2003) contends that a message by a sender can have a different meaning to the receiver leading it to be distorted. This assertion elucidates on the significance of having codes while communicating as Hall (2003, pg. 167, paragraph 2, first sentence) puts it “certain codes may, of course, be so widely distributed in a specific language community or culture, and be learned at to so early an age, that they appear not to be constructed– the effect of an articulation between sig and referent…”.
