It is important to know the focus of the simulation that is neither too narrow nor broad, than it facilitates adequate planning among teams on the likely scenarios (Lofgren & Nelson, 2013). There is also a need to determine measures or metric to evaluate success, where participants understand what is expected of them as they gain knowledge and training. Ideally, the training should be realistic, and the simulation should be a learning experience as it is not possible to represent an unknown scenario exactly as it would occur (Lofgren & Nelson, 2013). Actual crises are stressful and participants may have fun training to make the learning experience more enjoyable (Lofgren & Nelson, 2013). Another aspect is to reassure participants they cannot always be perfect, as they focus more on learning (Lofgren & Nelson,). After the simulation drills, assessment should be conducted o effect changes, as evaluating the training programs determines the success of such programs.
