Food Supply Chain
The Food Industry plays a significant part in providing fundamental necessities and essentials with which diverse human behaviors and activities are given. When food is harvested or manufactured, it must go through several processes. These services include delivery, storage, and retail for the product to reach the intended final consumers by the deadline. Approximately a third of the food produced is wasted or abandoned each year. The supply chain, which includes transportation, harvesting, and storage, accounts for two-thirds of the wasted food, thus the need for food traceability, suitability, and regenerative agriculture.
A strategic alliance value chain framework between food processing, production, and distribution was developed, and the function of this was to increase the supply chain’s value. Food traceability has been hugely utilized with many applications in the past few decades. Nonetheless, there are minimal reports on standard or general implementation frameworks. According to Rejeb et al. (2021), traceability is more prone to be similar to a common framework with more goal-oriented and efficient implementation processes. This assists in framework labeling with consideration of the application of food traceability. They created an effective traceability system architecture to analyze evaluation criteria from bar codes, alphanumerical codes, and radio frequency identification (RFID). The framework has been utilized for cheese consumers and producers by integrating RFID technology and alphanumeric codes. Food traceability will be more significant in solving issues like poor food quality and food poisoning in the future. Also, the consumers get protected from harmful products because all the players in the supply chain will work towards enhancing food quality to avoid legal issues.
