Assignment #1: Discussion 10 Reflection
I watched KJ's commentary video and read LLD in Spanish. I remember pursuing California History three years ago and acquiring adequate historical skills. I learned something new about Spanish heritage from this course, which caught my attention. I remember the teacher explaining key figures, including Peninsular (Spanish), Mulato (Spanish and African), and Zambo (Indian and African). There is mixed racial background called racial mixture in California due to a change of ethnic identity. KJ referred to San Diego as Saint Diego and Los Angeles as Angel of City. Besides, I learned something new about Mexico, which made me think critically. I noted that Mexico used to be in California, and the US took over California kicking out Mexicans. I was raised in Los Angeles and can read some Spanish languages due to evident signs. Also, I worked at Kaiser, which allowed me to be familiar with the language. I also practiced Mexican sign language. Therefore, I could communicate with Mexicans and note their gestures and body language.
Additionally, I watched KJ's commentary video and read GSM, which heavily focused on ASL and tokens, making me understand the token placement process. I taught an ASL tutor how to use 1st to 6th like youngest and oldest. Also, I taught the ASL tutor last week on Unit 4 how to sign the unusual token placement. My classmate explained to me clearly and understood the content. What if the person had 15 children? How can it be described? I keep on thinking about this question.

First of all, I was not familiar with CODA until my best friend told me about it a few years ago. I did not understand what CODA entails. Later, I took Deaf Culture at CSULB in 2019, where my teacher brought it and explained what CODA does. I learned something new I did not know about it. Your situation is similar to my daughter, who her friends bullied because her attitude was very strong, like mine making her frustrated despite not being involved with the deaf community. I appreciate all those who have struggled with being bullied and frustrated.
