During our discussion we will explore and analyze why managers need to understand what “culture” means to your organization and how diversity can be both an asset and a detriment depending on the overall culture of your organization. As you work within this discussion and share ideas and thoughts, please consider what you gain here and use this information within your SWOT analysis where applicable.
For this discussion activity, your scavenger hunt will consist of finding two examples where the organization and management excelled and took advantage of multiculturalism and diversity in a way that helps both the employee and the organization. Then provide two examples or experiences where an organization failed in this area. Remember these examples can come from any organization. If you do find applicable information on your own organization while working this discussion, please use it where applicable in your own SWOT analysis. These examples can be from current events, historical instances, or classic examples, in video or print.
Conduct a web search seeking two examples where you believe the organization embraced multiculturalism and diversity and was able to create an open and thriving work environment along with two examples where organizations failed to embrace these changes.

Multiculturalism in the workplace can prove to be powerful for the sustenance and growth of the organization. This is more precisely correct these days since globalization (and know how to globalize) defines the very essence and backbone of a business organization. Armed with this knowledge, most corporations utilize a culturally diverse workforce to maximize the input of ideas and techniques. However, this method of using multiculturalism does not come without risks. Potential setbacks include communication difficulties, ideological contradictions, conflicting norms, and discrimination regarding race/ethnicity to name some. Despite these risks, it is found that multiculturalism is a very powerful tool to drive the company’s creativity and uniqueness since it brings diverse perspectives together, as long as the mixture is strategically chosen and managed. Armed, with this knowledge, the author provided 4 cases in this paper where cultural diversity affected the dynamics and the work of an organization.
