Results
The results for the experiment show that I have been able to reach most of my changes through proactive decision-making and action-taking. Throughout the duration of the whole process, I was able to achieve almost each of my goals within the time frame initially allotted (Appendix 1). However, the results also show that there are a several goals that I was not able to achieve during the ‘action stage’ and the ‘termination stage’ of the whole transtheoretical process. On the one hand, some of the action goals that I was not able to achieve include; (1) face all fears, (2) engage in creative activities, and (3) stop worrying about other people’s perception of me. On the other hand, I was not able to “Ensure that I mentor others facing low self-esteem issues and ensure that I will never become a victim in the future”, which is my main goal for the termination stage.
Although there are a variety of challenges in the implementation of the data collection one of the main challenges that I faced was the verification of the success rate per stage in the transtheoretical model. This is because the interpretation of success in each of the activities (i.e., face all fears) is at risk of being highly subjective from my own point of view, I had to verify the changes by taking note of the thought and activity patterns after the stage.
