The company has since been known for its customer-friendly services and a healthy working environment for employees. One of the strategies that promote healthy employee competitions in Quiktrip is internal recruitment (Hanna, 2011). This strategy allows Quiktrip to maintained having skilled workers and, at the same time, open job opportunities for low-skilled applicants.
In line with keeping the employees comfortable with Quiktrip, I recommend a cost-effective policy practice that can help in employee retention. The policy practice will be anchored on the principle of behavioral economics and need theory to cater to the employees' rights and needs (Laibson & List, 2015; Ramlall, 2004). In Maslow's need theory of motivation for employee retention, employees' basic needs in their employment are physiological, security, affiliation, esteem, and self-actualization (Laibson & List, 2015). Quiktrip has long been practicing the Maslow's need theory in their human resources management. They provide the employees comfortable and convenient working space (physiological), assure employees of job recruitment (security) through skills training and development (affiliation; self-actualization), and motivate employees with incentives and compensation (esteem) (Hanna, 2011; Laibson & List, 2015). I present a revised outline of this practice which considers the behavioral economics principles.
The company will provide developmental activities and pieces of training relevant to each department. These activities will enhance the employees' skills and experiences to be used for recruitment. According to the first principle of behavioral economics, experienced people provide wise decisions and results (Ramlall, 2004). If the employees are equally given access to the activities and training relative to their field of work, recruitment competition will be healthier and unbiased.
