A leader is a person who holds a position within a field and influences a group of people toward achieving goals. A leader is a person who establishes direction, motivates, inspires and mentors people to produce change. A leader should have integrity in pursuing goals in the right manner and because it is the right thing to do (Stanfield, 2009). Being a leader means being a person who understands the differences that make people unique and being able to use their skills to achieve the goals set.
A leader should behave in a charismatic manner. They should have effective communication skills not just in writing or speaking, but in moving people to work toward a particular goal. A leader should behave in a composed, self-aware, humble, and mature manner. Leadership can establish a compelling vision, sharing that vision and inspiring others to support that view while creating own (Helmrich, 2015).
