A business process is a chain of related business activities or tasks meant to achieve a goal. The process of placing a purchase order by customers and activities involved in processing the order is an example of a business process. Business process methodologies are the procedures and guidelines adopted to ease business process management. The six sigma methodology seeks to improve business gradually, with the process occurring where defects are corrected as one move to the next stage (Thompson, 2014). On the other hand, lean manufacturing considers expenditure in the business process where the goal is to increase efficiency through eliminating waste (Kocakülâh et al, 2008). Lean methodology is relevant as it focuses on how best to achieve results and improve efficiency through removing unnecessary steps and spending. The six sigma methodology is equally important in business process as it begins with definition, and each step builds upon the previous one to enhance improvement.
