Heineken is a leading global enterprise that has been committed to remaining independent and also offering their customers with the highest quality product. It has remained consistent, reliable and independent and can be found in numerous areas of the world. Through effective leadership, management and innovation of strategies, the company has become one of the most valuable international premium brands (Smit, 2014). The paper will analyze Heineken and its associated beer industry. It will also highlight the company’s CEO and his strategies and conduct a swot analysis to determine the measures needed for improvement to increase success for Heineken.
Analysis of Heineken in the beer industry
Heineken belongs to the beer industry and has developed numerous speciality beers globally. Apart from the Heineken brand, there are over one hundred and seventy beers that meet the various needs of their customers worldwide. The company has a broad international presence through effective global networking with their distributors and breweries (De Mooij, 2013). Through connecting their values and objectives for the company, Heineken currently owns and manages an international portfolio of beer brands and in terms of sales volume and profitability in the brewing industry; the company is among the leading enterprises (Smit, 2014).
History
Heineken initially began in 1864 after Gerard Adriaan Heineken purchased a small brewery in Amsterdam. Since this period, four generations of the Heineken family have expanded the entire brand and the company globally. Heineken N.V is located in the Netherlands which is its headquarters. Heineken brands have been focused on profitable and mature markets including new ones such as Russia and China (Gammelgaard, & Dörrenbächer, 2013). In this market, the reputation of beers has been rising daily. By the end of 2007, Heineken had the most substantial existence of international brewers in over sixty-five countries.
The beer market is mostly influenced by the increase in globalization. At Heineken, all personnel including the management have always concentrated on learning more about the community and their needs. Even though the enterprise is international in every way, it has been wholly committed to servicing local cultures (De Kluyver, 2010). Most of Heineken’s brands are rooted in the cultures of individual markets. With such values combined with quality products, this has made Heineken highly successful as it has become the world’s preferred brewer of quality beers.
Therefore, through the numerous expansions the company has made, combined with their successful strategies, Heineken has combined both an emergent approach such as diversifying their employment and also focusing on their customer’s needs with the product of intended strategies.
