Impacts of Personality on Job Performance
Personality may affect the attributes of a person’s job performance by the reaction to situations during work. Not every personality can suit any job, so employers need to be very careful when assigning duties. The manager has to recognize employees’ personalities and pair those with similar personalities. This may lead to high production as the employees share the same behavioral character. By assigning job positions to employees according to personality; there are fewer conflicts among employees, resulting in excellent corporation and commitment, high production, and job satisfaction helping the business to perform more efficiently.
1. Analyze which personality characteristics the adjectives of Della and Paul reflect in the Big Five model.
The big five model, it’s a model used to group human personality traits. The personalities include openness to experience (the person is curious and wants to know more) and extroversion (the person is outgoing, likes to socialize with others). The others are neuroticism (the person is very sensitive, with negative emotions), agreeableness (the person is friendly), and conscientiousness (efficient and well organized) (Oshio &Taku, 2018). The assertive nature of Della, which may lead to hostility it’s a Neuroticism type of personality. This means Della gets easily angered or easily depressed. Della’s behavior is generally unstable. This may have an impact on his job performance; he has a pessimistic approach towards work and low confidence that work impedes to his personal relationships. Paul, on the other hand, has a conscientious personality. Paul is patient, calm, relaxed, well organized, and the methodological nature of conscientiousness personality makes him a good job performer. When the two are compared, Paul is likely to be assigned more job tasks because of his professionalism nature. Unlike Della, is who is limited a bit by his unstable nature.
