Initial ICOs are financing structure in which emitters sell their recently emitted cryptocurrency units or coins in return for further cryptocurrencies (such as Bitcoin or Ethereum). Organizations uses initial coin offerings (ICOs) to raise funds for new cryptocurrency units that investors believe will function well in the future, resulting in a profit. Since the first ICO, for Mastercoin (now rebranded Omni), in July 2013, approximately USD 20 billion has been generated for companies using ICOs (Li & Mann, 2018). Organizations, corporations and contractors utilize ICOs as an open call for financing to generate revenue through cryptocurrencies that are of use to smaller investors, since they may work with other investors to give finance that is akin to crowdsourcing.
