There is a fine line between government control and free market operations that businesses in a capitalist economic system have to work with. Over the years the influence that government has on business operations has increased (Samuelson & Marks, 2014). This is relative to the interaction between the capitalist system in the economy and the democratic approach of governance. Capitalism is a system that can be considered to be inherently selfish. Democracy however, requires that all the people are given equal rights and opportunities.
