Throughout this semester, I have learned many concepts related to the role of the packaging industry in society. I have gained knowledge of how the packaging industry works, as well as some of the different segments found in the industry. Besides, I have learned how technology has become an essential component in solving various challenges affecting the packaging industry. Most importantly, I have realized the massive relationship between food industry management and the packaging industry.
The packaging industry is made up of various segments with food and protective packaging segments being the ones which significantly I found to be most interesting. Since I am majoring in food industry management, the different concepts of food packaging interested me because I am aware that this segment directly relates to my future profession. In my opinion, the most consideration that should be taken by the different industry segments is the issue of environmental pollution. During the semester, I have learned that packaging plays a significant role in determining the pollution levels in the environment. Notably, plastic bags have grown to become the standard model of packaging in different parts of the world. However, plastic bags have also become one of the menaces in terms of environmental pollution.
