Introduction
The issue of public health in a workplace setting provides unique problems for employers. Approximately all its entire hazards can be controlled and prevented since they are environmental. On the other side, public health presents a platform for conflict with huge economic stakes. The question of who is mainly responsible for health and safety in the work place is often debated between employers and employees. Nonetheless, the employer is mainly responsible for providing a safe working environment by ensuring industrial hygiene. Therefore, instead of workers relying on self-protection or adaptation to hazardous conditions, employers are responsible for providing a safe working environment.

Background Information
Economic phenomenon such as occupational injuries and diseases, mainly result from social decisions regarding the use of labor and technology in the production of services and goods. Therefore, some organizations take responsibility for ensuring that their employees are safe by employing health and safety professionals who help the company to provide a safe working environment. The concern over workers health and safety has received much attention since the period in which developed nations adopted technology as a means of boosting economic advancements. Throughout history, workplace health and safety problems have raised public concern, which eventually led to the introduction of policies and inspection departments. Unions have also agitated for policies and rules that protect the health of workers. Nonetheless, several employers pay less attention to workers' health even after the passage of workers compensation laws, which demands that workers should be financially compensated in case they are injured in the workplace. Despite such laws, most employers fail to compensate workers until the injured employee sues the company.
Evidence to Support the Claim
According to a number of regulatory bodies and federal law, employers are mainly tasked with providing a safe and healthy working environment for their employees. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration mentions that firms should promulgate and enforce safety policies to ensure that the work environment is safe for workers (OSHA, 2019). This indicates that workers have the ability to reduce the health and safety risks in companies. Moreover, companies can develop programs to train workers on how to avoid hazardous conditions as well as a train or hire personnel who will be responsible for ensuring individuals observe the safety requirements. The OSHA (2019) states that companies are responsible for examining working conditions, offering the correct safety equipment and tools to employees for protection, provide training programs, and develop a written hazard communication program to train employees on the possible hazards that they encounter at work.
