Introduction
Renaissance music was written in Europe at the time of the Renaissance period. This music evolved between the era of Baroque music and medieval music. Like in other arts, the music of the Renaissance period was heavily influenced by the developments that were used to define or describe the early modern period. This implies that the music of the period majored in particular topics. These topics marked the start of the early modern era. Some of the indicators that guided the music of this period included; the rise of the thought of humanitarian, the recovery of the artistic and literary heritage of Rome and ancient Greece, commercial enterprises growing, bourgeois class rising, reformation of protestant, and increased discovery and innovation. There emerged a common language of music from this changing society. Renaissance music encompassed the period between 1400 and 1600. Just like in other periods of music, there is a natural overlap. It is evident that Italy was the country that dominated renaissance music. Renaissance music varies in diverse aspects starting from the rhythm, instruments, and lyrics among others.
