Critical thinking refers to a comprehensive way of perceiving things that entails distinctive reasoning attributes. In other words, it is called robust thinking. Indeed, it is the state of mind that focuses on better thinking by asking various questions for an in-depth understanding of things (Guillot 2004, 37). In particular, critical thinking is crucial since it helps leaders to perceive various situations uniquely and make proper decisions from the knowledge obtained by asking multiple questions. However, it is difficult to teach critical thinking to military leaders. Critical thinking entails individuals’ qualities or characteristics that can be challenging to teach, including self-directed thinking, perfection in thinking, mastery of intellectual abilities and skills, accurate and clear thinking, and awareness (Guillot 2004, 37).
Notably, critical thinking is difficult to teach to military leaders due to the lack of an effective talent management program that enhances hiring practices.
