Superiority Battles: United States, Russia, and China

This week’s readings present insightful materials about the ongoing superiority battles between the dominant world powers, the United States, Russia, and China. One of the central concepts that drew my attention and stirred continued research is the re-ignited efforts by Russia and China to reaffirm their global and regional influences and shift the geopolitical advantages in their favor. This realization has prompted concern about whether the United States is adequately prepared to counteract these initiatives by two of its top competitors.
Diverse readings in this class demonstrate that the status quo is in question and that the United States cannot stay bland in geopolitical and geoeconomic. For instance, Dobbins, Shatz, and Wyne (2018, 2) indicate that China and Russia appear to be advancing the same objective of upsetting the U.S. global interests and values and shifting them in their favor. The relationship between the United States and these two nations is aggressive, as demonstrated by the various resources encountered this week.
