Sex, love and intimacy are highly correlated concepts, but we can bundle all of them into a summative term, called sexuality in this paper. They look simple yet harbor multiple sophisticated connotations. Love, sex and intimacy debates are quite elusive and contestable. It unravels people’s inner truths, as well as hypocrisy.
Through the course content, I have leant a lot, include the observation that sexuality is a quite broad and extensive phenomenon. I have got to know that sexuality is not only a pathway to pleasure and heterosexual activity, associated with the purpose of birthing and giving rise to offsprings, but also act as a tool for oppression and puts the issues of freedom and liberalism onto the limelight. The diverse course texts and materials paint sexuality from different perspectives including marriage, virginity, heterosexuality, pornography and sex work, being accompanied by elements of societal patriarchy, racism, discrimination and oppression. Thus, a question regarding the ethical and just conversation around sexuality is necessary.
Are people ethical, fair and just, when it comes to the issue of sexuality? There is an elusive and volatile conversation about homosexuality, which brings sharp contrast to traditional heterosexual encounters.
